Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park.

"Fish!" she called into the distance,
With her hands cupped round her mouth,
"Fish, can you hear me calling..."

Over the September long weekend we traveled with friends to Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park for three nights/four days of outdoor goodness. There in the park the colour green dominated the day in the water of the lake and ebbed into night via the evergreen of our tree-ringed campsites. We enjoyed stories and walks with friends, campfire s'mores, refreshing lake swims and a beach leap-about (or two). Gracie had her first proper canoe ride, during which she summoned every fish in the lake to visit our boat - what fisherman worth his salt wouldn't want her along for the ride?!
A trip to Birkenhead is excellent nourishment for the psyche before the frenzied pace of September takes hold - I say we make it an annual event!
Fog rolling in - time to head home.
so beautiful! we're in whistler and we just went for a stroll around lost lake, nothing like these gorgeous alpine lakes.
ReplyDeletep.s. i wanted to ask what you thought of the eyes open e course? i'm thinking of doing it but not sure if it's worth it. i adore your photos so i'd love to know what you think :)
Hi Gaby - love Whistler - we too used to stroll around Lost Lake with Grace, starting when she was just one month old! I agree, there is something truly special about glacier fed and alpine lakes. Loving your blog - I especially love your pictures of the Trout Lake Farmer's Market, yum:)
DeleteRe; Erin's course, after looking through your photos I don't think you need it. You have a great creative eye, and while Erin's course does prompt you to practice being creative in new ways, it's mostly basic (e.g., geared toward beginners / taking your camera off auto) right up until the last bit. That said, it was fun, the other participants were inspiring and Erin was truly awesome at giving detailed answers to absolutely any photography related question.
Enjoy Vancouver! xx
Thanks so much! This is exactly what I wanted to know. I would love to find an e course to improve my photography skills but perhaps this isn't the best one for now. Thanks x

ReplyDeleteThank you, Laura! It was really a wonderful place for our children to spend time together as free spirits - heading into the lake while still wearing pants, roasting food over the fire, sleeping outside - so much fun!
