My family and I are in the midst of a whirlwind tour of Ottawa/Montreal/Waterloo (and later Newfoundland)... Gracie wants to know what exactly happens behind these big doors on Parliament Hill?

Hiking at Brothers Creek, North Vancouver, B.C.

A little time away... This morning I am heading east with my family to attend a Quebec wedding, explore in and around Montreal and visit with aunts/uncles/cousins in Ontario. Following our explorations of central Canada we will head to Newfoundland (the province with one moose for every four residents!) to see friends and more family - I can hardly wait!

[In anticipation of leaving what has been *the.best.summer.ever.* here in Vancouver, we went berry picking once again in the forests of the North Shore. The following pictures represent bits and pieces of our foray into foraging.]

the 52 project: 29/52.

[52 project participants who inspired me last week: Little Beds, oscarlucinda, Lamb Loves Fox, little wild moose, Dear Lola, and of course, Che and Fidel]

At the outset of 2013 I devised a grand plan to introduce more greens into my diet and to learn about foraging. I didn't quite get there with the foraging (at all actually), however on Friday morning Gracie and I met a friend and her little one for a hike in the woods where we found ourselves picking wild blueberries, huckleberries, salmon berries and raspberries.

It was pretty swell - I need more foraging in my life!
